6.  hitekXP (4-4): Wallpaper, fonts, and progress bar workout

The original AfterStep wall had to be tweaked to match Windows XP boot screen limitations, which wasn’t too difficult with Gimp’s awesome G’MIC plug-ins – a neat combination of the Freaky Details and Bayer filters would do the best job, providing a nice degrading retro effect while keeping the image dark enough.

However especially the red text was heavily edited for real looking letter joints and word beginnings and endings  Eventually I pasted the finished text layers onto the background, merged and indexed the colors.

Concerning the background color, slot #0 of the index for both the screen and the separate progress bar images as always had to be the same, otherwise all would result in false colors.

There are now three different progress bars attached to each theme: stars, hearts, and dollars.  Select it by editing bootskin.ini accordingly.  Finally activate your favorite skin via the BootSkin theme selection menu.
